Devon 155 for 8 (Kazi Szymanski 37, Sam Maunder 35, Devon won by 32 runs Day 1 - Devon v Middlesex – pitch 4We all knew a good start was needed and the toss was lost and Devon were asked to bat. Inning saving contributions from Kaz Szymanski 37 and Sam Maunders 35 ensured that Devon posted a total to bowl at. Devon reached 155-8. Not the start Devon wanted but at least stood a chance. Devon made early in roads into the Middlesex line up and our fielding was far superior and at 20 overs Middlesex were 62-6. This was down to Kaz Szymanski 8-2-12-3 and Monty Crowe |
| v Cheshire on 16th August Devon 190 for 8 (Tom Williams 79, Monty Crowe 34, extras 43, Jack Needham 8-1-28-2, Henry Dobson 9-2-32-2) Cheshire 68ao (Ed Fluck 10, extras 17, Chris Yabsley 10-7-6-5, Max Mejzner 5-1-12-2) Devon won by 122 runs Wagonwheel - Monty Crowe Another toss lost and we batted first once more. It was clear a good start was required from a top order bat and Tom Williams duly obliged with a 79 contribution. He was supported by Monty Crowe 34 and later on by Sam Maunder 16 to help post a total of 190-8. Cheshire strength was in their batting and talking to their coach they were confident in knocking this off. Halfway however Cheshire had slumped to 51-7 and only went on to make 68ao. This was down to an incredible spell of off spin bowling from Chris Yabsley 10-7-6-5 and sensational catches from Tom Lammonby and a caught and bowled from Max Mezjner Devon bag 17points to retain top spot on night 2 with 35 points. |

v Yorkshire on 17th August Devon 150ao (Sam Maunder 28, Monty Crowe 18, Wagonwheel – Sam Maunder Yet another toss lost and this found Devon batting first once more. The sunshine had lost us from the previous 2 days and the boys batted in continual mist and posted a competitive 150 ao, resuming after lunch of 100-6. Sam Maunder again contributed with a valiant 28 later in the innings. Devon failed to bat their 45 allotted overs by 2 which would prove costly that afternoon. Yorkshire built themselves a platform and with only 3 down at the halfway stage were able to ensure they got home with 3 overs to spare. This was a great lesson from Devon in setting targets and retaining wickets early on. Just 5 points bagged for this hard days play, but still Devon were on top with 40 points -------------------------------- |

v Buckinghamshire on 18th August (reduced to 30 overs a side) Buckinghamshire 119 for 8 (Jamie Woodley 17, Devon won by 6 wkts Wagonwheel Monty Crowe Day 4 – Devon v Buckinghamshire – pitch 1 Devon won the toss finally and decided to bowl first on a very wet wicket in this 30 over tie. Some superb line and length bowling from Jack Gibbs 6-0-20-3 ensured that Bucks never got away and posted a target of 119-8 for Devon to pass. Devon set a platform to defend this by reaching 52-1 at halfway. This was down to opener Carl Stanbury 33 and Monty Crowe our number 3 who top scored with 45. We eventually passed the total in the 29th over bagging another 17 points. Devon lead on 57 points --------------------------------- |

Day 5 – Devon v Essex – pitch 5 Devon were on its favourite pitch and had a 6 point clear margin over Middlesex at the top of the table before the coin was tossed. It fell in Essex favour and Devon were asked to bat for the fourth time this week. The start couldn’t get much worse with the first over claiming 2 Devon wickets and by the 4th over Devon were 3 down. However Devon had fight still left in them after this gruelling week and Tom Lammonby showed his class with a superb 101, his maiden century for Devon. He came to the wicket on a hat trick ball and went on to play the innings of the week. His stroke play was incredible and a delight for everyone who was there. He pushed Devon to a defendable 178-8. After lunch Essex started in a very positive way and runs seemed very easy to come by. At the halfway stage they were 93-1 and had managed to give themselves the platform to propel themselves past the Devon total with 2 overs to spare. The loss still meant Devon were sat at the top of the leader board and were crowned Champions of their group with 63 points. Tom Lammonby was also presented with performance of the tournament for his outstanding maiden century. A fantastic effort for Ted Ashman and his backroom staff, for the boys who performed brilliantly all week and the parental support who were there to watch the matches in numbers! This was last won by this age group by Devon in 2004 and 2008 so Ted did not have to wait another 4 years before he got his hands on the shield!!
