The Sidmouth Cricket Force team take a break - below: Saj Patidar gets his brush out

WITH just over a week to go before the start of the new season, the players have been busy doing various jobs at Sidmouth Cricket Club.

The voluntary help was at its most visual last Saturday when an army of players and supporters took part in the Nat West Cricket Force Day.

The club was one of almost 1,400 nationwide to sign up with the ECB Cricket Force initiative, which is sponsored by NatWest bank.

It was the first time the club had been involved in the initiative which encourages volunteers to help support their local club.

Under the guidance of ground chairman John Goodwin, groundsman Colin Whitehall and house chairman John Palmer, the helpers did various jobs including treating the wood on fences and outbuildings, repairing nets and general tidying up.
