Coaches Conference 2007
HOME

The second Devon Coaches Conference, masterminded by CDM Mathew Theedom, was a resounding success with over fifty local coaches present to watch a number of most interesting workshops. Former England bowling coach Peter Lever, who is shortly moving into the county, kicked off with a session working and coaching with a number of the counties young seam bowlers. Former Middlesex's batsman keeper Keith Brown, who is a key member of the counties coaching team, showed the coaches a number of innovative ways of playing spin bowling. Former Gloucestershire player and now leading coach Andy Stovard took the coaches through the usage of a BOLA bowling machine. Local community coaches David Court and Andy Fairbairn gave everyone a first hand experience of a circuit and the use of games in coaching. Finally Neil Davey led a session on flexibility and injury management. Also present were representatives of the ECBCA and Duncan Fernley. SKY Sports funding supplied a excellent buffet lunch. Theedom had superbly organised a most enjoyable and beneficial Conference and now has plans of making it a permanent event in the counties calendar.
