"Devon all at sea but still have too much cream for the Channel Islands"

On the first day of the festival Devon's

bowlers struggled to come to terms with the ball swinging in humid conditions and before they know it the Channel Islands are 51-0 with only 20 off the bat! Tom Whittle and Joe Webb radically bowl at the stumps and before long the score is 63-4. Due to injury Ollie Pyne is thrown

the ball and he proves that he can bowl off spin taking 2 for 13 off 4 overs. Harry Chapman-Walker also picks up two wickets and the Channel Islanders are all out in the 48th over for 160. 60 runs too many if Devon had bowled and fielded to potential! Special mention to Eliot Acton for his spell too and for his attitude and commitment in the field. It would be great if everybody showed his enthusiasm and passion.

James Parkin after the early loss of Gareth Tidball then puts on 68 for the 2nd wicket with Joe Webb, before James 42 is out with the score on 99. James Fletcher and Robbie Debenham see the score to 119 but wickets continue to fall at regular intervals until Scott Boardman and Tom Whittle see Devon home in the 38th over by 3 wickets. A very average performance but a victory. If we can win under performing then things can only get better and they will need too!!!!!! Oh and we mustn't forget the Ashman and Broad early morning wind up- Mearsy!
