"Determined Devon Destroy Dorset"

What a performance! After their narrow defeat earlier in the season and having improved significantly, Devon were determined not to slip up this time against their near neighbours. Harry Chapman-Walker set the tone first ball bowling Dorset's opener and 6th ball of

the second over Scott Boardman (29 dot balls Scott!) bowled the other opener.0-2. It quickly becomes 3 when the talented Ridley is caught in the gulley 8-3. Robbie Debenham and Scrumpy come into the attack and 2nd over Robbie strikes and in Scrumpy's 3rd over Ollie Pyne takes off and takes a great catch at mid on making it 38-5. Joined by Joe Webb who takes a wicket 3rd ball Debenham bowls through, in pain with a bad back, to finish with figures of 3-26 off 10 overs. Ollie Pyne raps the innings up with Dorset all out for 90 in the 37th over. Devon gaining the extra bowling points having again bowled straight and fielded out of their skins (prickles and all Tom!).

Having learnt from the day before, Devon's batsmen are determinded to approach their task more positively but Gareth Tidball is unable to bat due to a bruised hip. Eliot Acton opens and is stumped practicing a shot after missing the ball! The line is out- but you weren't on it anyway!! James Parkin batting beautifully and aided by Joe Webb put on 45 including a superb pull for 6 into the river before Ridley stumps Webb. Dan Pickard can only watch as Parkin destroys the Dorset bowling finishing the match in style by hitting 18 off an over with 28 overs to spare. Devon winning by 8 wickets. 4 wins out of 4 played and with only 1 day remaining- have Devon done enough to win the festival already? At the evening's Team meeting Ollie Pyne is voted Players' Player of the Year- what a surprise!!
