"Deadly Dibble Double Dents Gwent"

Gwent's best laid plans where thrown into disarray by Adam Dibble's first over double wicket maiden at Newport CC and at 0-2, they never really recovered. In Sam Cload's first over he removed Hoskin's off peg and then the inform James Burke got to work.

Bowling again with real aggression, he took two wickets in his first over, including Moon before Adam Dibble dived in the covers to take a great low catch. Gwent continued to struggle against Burke's pace, deliveries going for 4 byes over the keeper's head, another 4 leg byes off  a batsman, before Dibble took another excellent catch off a fended off ball. Sam Cload then took his second wicket, caught by Sam Smith who had another excellent match keeping. Burke would have had his fifth wicket but for his studless size 13s overstepping the crease- again! Devon's fielding was much improved, tried to involve the spinners but quickly decided to rap things up and Dibble and Evenden finished off the tail. Gwent 115 all out. Devon's Luke Bess and James Burke quickly put on 36, before Bess got out followed by Williams. Joined by Evenden, Burke was easing Devon to victory before he was bowled off his leg for 38. Evenden followed soon after LBW off this thigh. Sam Smith 38 not out and Harry Stephenson 14 not out (more runs than he scored all last year!), then confidently put on 45 in 7 overs to win the match for Devon in the 27th over. Devon 119-4. Our thanks to Newport CC and the Gwent management for their hospitality.
