Devon v Hampshire

Hants batting hits Devon for six

Devon entered the ESCA Festival in good spirits. After winning the toss they to field and soon regretted it as the Hampshire batting made hay.

Going along at six an over from the off they raced to 159 before Matthew Hickey picked up two wickets, including opener Ravenscroft who hit the first of his two centuries. Devon did well to restrict Hampshire to a score of below 300 and Nathan Bulley's figures of 2-38 from ten overs showed how well he bowled amidst the carnage.

Devon lost opener Luke Tuckett early and when skipper Matthew Hickey went for a duck things were lucking bleak. A composed innings of 37 from Lewis Gregory and good knocks from Henry Parkin (30) and Matthew Thompson (28) added some respectability. A bruising 58 no from James Toland entertained the crowd as he was joined by Alex Carr to see out the draw as Devon closed on 236-6 to fall 60 runs short of victory.
