Oxfordshire v Devon

at Great Tew C C

Oxfordshire halt Devon winning streak

After thunderstorms washed out Hook Norton the game was switched to Great Tew C C late on Thursday evening. On a damp wicket Devon were asked to bat. A slow start saw Devon lose Lewis Gregory for 3 in the 9th over with only 15 on the board. Plenty of batsman got starts but for the first time this season no one in the top five scored 50. At 73-5 from 26 overs things were starting to look a little bleak but useful knocks from James Toland 36 and Alex Carr 21 enabled the visitors to get up to 169-9,

probably thirty runs short of a par score.

Devon responded well and removed both openers early, Will Gater and James Toland taking a wicket apiece. A third wicket stand of 68 seemed to be tilting the game back in Oxford's favour until Nathan Bulley picked up a pair of wickets in a tidy spell and a super run out saw Oxford slip to 113-5.

A sixth wicket at 142 gave Devon hope but the game continued to slip away as 21 was added for the 7th wicket. Alex Carr then claimed two wickets in an over and James Toland picked up another to leave Oxford requiring six from the last over. They did this with 2 balls to spare.

A great game of cricket played in a sporting manner between two evenly matched sides.
