Devon Under 12s v Wales

Not exactly one of the best starts to the season…..

The campaign kicked off with a game against Wales at North Devon CC’s Instow home. With the threat of rain ever looming we were lucky to get a game in Some would have viewed it otherwise, however, after we were stuck in on a damp wicket and the Welsh bowlers took full advantage to bowl us for a dire 49.Ben Stein and Freddie Jayarajah were the only two batsmen who managed to cope with the conditions and play any where near sensibly. There were some not very nice shots from some batters and a silly run-out just to add to the misery.49 was never going to be enough to defend, although to be fair the team were upbeat after the break  - and a few words from the manager and coach.Wales knocked off the required runs for the loss of just two wickets.Jodie Dibble bowled a nice line and length in her spell and there were useful contributions from Jack Popham and Charlie Watson. Oh for some runs on the board….

The character of the team was now faced with its first, early-season challenge…could it respond positively as we took on Gloucester at Barton CC in Torquay? Gloucestershire Report

SCOREBOARD:

Devon 49 all out(Jayarajah 15; Lewis 5-4)
Wales 50-2

Wales won by eight wickets.
