Devon v Gloucestershire

Wednesday 01st June

Exmouth C C

Devon finally got play under way after taking an early lunch and electing to bat. The loss of opener Alex Brown to a direct hit and then Chris Sanders two balls later mistiming a pull and playing on was a bad start. Tom Mitcham was joined by Alex Hill and together they added 119 for the third wicket, Hill eventually falling for 43. with sixteen overs left and seven wickets in hand Devon should really have accelerated a lot more than they did as wickets fell on a regular basis. Mitcham eventually went for a well made 71 and it was left to CAmeron Grainger to score an unbeaten 26 to take Devon to 189-9 from their 45 overs.

Gloucestershire were set back on their heels early in the piece as Rebecca Dononhue bowled one of the openers to claim her first wicket in boys county cricket. Skipper Zak Bess, Barnaby Huxtable and Ned Menheneott then shared seven wickets between them as together with two run outs Gloucestershire were bowled out for 97.
