DEVON WON BY 4 WICKETS

A warm sunny day in the delightful setting of Heathcoat CC. Cornwall won the toss and chose to bat. They were soon in trouble at 5-2 but an aggressive innings by Smith (84) enabled them to reach 189 all out with three balls of their allotted overs left. At one stage Cornwall looked likely to reach well over 200 but some disciplined bowling and keen fielding in the last 15 overs saw their innings subside from 173-5 in 43 overs.

In reply  Devon lost wickets at regular intervals. However,  two excellent innings by Alex Brown (65) and Sam DeFriend (45 not out) were sufficient to ensure victory. A feature was an excellent seventh wicket stand of 41 by DeFriend and Grainger after Devon appeared to be in some difficulties at 149-6.
