A disappointing bowling performance containing far too many short pitched deliveries.

After a difficult start to Devon's innings Sam Smith and Chris Metters batted well to retrieve the situation, however it took an excellent last wicket stand by Tom Cross and Adam Dibble to ensure a draw.

With rain threatening it seemed likely that the toss would be crucial. This proved to be the case with Devon's innings terminated by the rain leaving Essex a seemingly straightforward target of 129 in 31 overs.

However some excellent bowling and fielding made them struggle and the target was reached with just 6 deliveries remaining.

Essex won by 5 wickets.

Devon made a slow but confident start to their innings and were in a good position when heavy rain prevented any further play.
