Maiden Gregory century gets Devon off the mark

Devon were asked to bat by Worcestershire and after losing four of the top five for 43 were in trouble. Matthew Thompson joined Lewis Gregory and together they shared a 5th wicket stand of 165. At lunch Devon were 113-4 and only had twelve of their allotted overs remaining. There was no need to worry as they returned in sparkling form to add 107 runs. Lewis Gregory scored his maiden county century and Matthew Thompson collected his first half century as Devon posted a respectable 220-5.

Worcestershire lost an early wicket to the consistent swing bowling of Alex Carr but at 101-4 from 25 overs were still in the game. Miles Lenygon had collected 3-36 from his ten overs. Will Gater returned to take two wickets and he was joined by spinners JJ Debenham and Nathan Bulley who also picked up two apiece as Worcestershire were bowled out in the 43rd over to give Devon their first win of the week.
