Jamie Overton (N captain) won the toss and decided to field first. Seamus McKenna and Fergus Barratt provided a solid start racking up 40 for the first wicket inside 8 overs. McKenna punished a selection of 'buffet' deliveries for 4 runs. Tom Ansell was first change and his introduction bought the wicket of Barratt, smartly caught and bolwed for 9. More boundaries flowed from the other end and the score moved to 81 before MvKenna was bowled by Harry Booker for 41 (6x4s and 1x6). J Abbot and Craig Eaves continued the good work by adding 37 for the 3rd wicket before the returning Ansell had Abbot caught in the covers for 9. South were now 118 for 3 in the 24th over, looking set for a big total. Overton rallied his players and the bowlers and fielders responded as the next 16 overs cost only 53. Eaves and J Baughan provided 16 and 13 respectively. Ansell was the pick of the bowlers with a superb 8-0-12-2. The final total of 171 looked competitive and would require a good performances by either side to secure victory.

South took the early initiative with some tight bowling to restrict the North openers to 16 from the first 6 overs. In the 7th, D Grainger claimed the prize wicket of Craig Overton for 10. The pressure continued, as only wides kept the scoreboard ticking over. Jack Popham, Tom Ansell and Max Curtis fell with the scores at 31, 36 and 43. During  that period J Sanders ws extremely stingy with a spell of 4-4-0-1. The score reached 63 in the 20th over when successive Eaves left arm swingers bowled Francis Lausen and Lawrence Stone leaving North reeling at 63-6, Captain Overton decided attack was the best form of defence as he savaged South's lesser bowlers to all parts of the ground. The score moved along to 118-7 in the 31st over. Was the game still in the balance? Not for long, as Overton was caught at long on for 42 (8x4s, 1x6). South sensed victory and duly captured the remaining wickets to deservedly win by 42 runs in the 35th over., and also the bonus of a 20 point haul. McKenna was the pick of the bowlers.
