NORTH DEVON HOLIDAY HOMES CRICKET LEAGUE – WEEK SIX

THERE was not a single ball bowled at any of the 19 matches scheduled for week six of the North Devon Cricket League.

Ironically, week six was set to be the first match day of the season when each of the top four divisions played a full programme of matches.

The top-flight games at Heathcoat, Lynton, Sandford and Victoria Park all met a watery grave.

In Division Two the games at Barnstaple & Pilton, Bratton Fleming and Shobrooke Park were all off whilst they even tried to switch the Holsworthy versus Morebath from its scheduled North Devon venue to mid-Devon, but the weather won the day on that one too!

The Division Three games at Bude, Shebbear and Westleigh were off but they left it as late as possible at Ilfracombe where the home pitch was actually in excellent condition but the gathering rain clouds opened late morning and washed away any hope of play.

Weare Giffard had been set to play two of their Division Four games over the weekend but the rain stopped them on Saturday at Newton Tracey II and 24 hours later they were forced to call off their home game with Lynton & Lynmouth II.

North Devon II and Bideford II were the other games off in this section and in the basement Division the games off were at North Molton and this new season new pair of Belstone and Petrockstowe.
