DASH OF COLOUR: Players modelling some of the coloured kits teams will be wearing for the Tavistock Twenty20.

 

THE ‘pyjama games' start on Sunday week at Tavistock with the first round of matches in the Kaminski Properties-sponsored Twenty20 tournament at the Ring.

    Eleven teams are taking part in the tournament, which has been seeded initially to avoid mis-matches

    Buckland, Calstock, Lifton, Lydford, Milton Abbot and the Ordulph Arms will be contesting the Championship round at the Ring on Sunday, June 17.

    The winners of the Championship round will go through to the Premiership stage on July 15 when Tavistock, Bridestowe, Lewdown, Yelverton Bohemians and Whitchurch Wayfarers come into the competition.

    Organisers have gone the whole hog with white balls, coloured kit, individual signature tunes for players and all the general hullabaloo that goes with Twenty20 cricket.

    Play starts next Sunday (June 17) at 10am when the Ordulph Arms play Buckland. The final is due to be start at around 5.30pm
