East Devon U11s v North Devon U11s 2012
East Devon Under 11s v North Devon Under 11s

Sunday 6th May, Exeter Cricket Club

East Devon 181-4 (M Mejzner 60, O O'Livey 31) beat North Devon 98ao (I Windley 22; M Mejzner 5-7, J Klinkenberg 3-25) by 83 runs

Following a change in venue, to Exeter CC, due to the recent weather East won the toss and elected to bat on what was a warm, sunny day.

Max Mejzner and Oliver O’Livey continued their fine partnership from the abandoned game against the West 2 weeks earlier and reached their 50 partnership in the 10th over.  Mejzner brought up his 50 with a lofted drive between Mid on and Mid wicket for 4.  At drinks the East had reached 96 without loss.  2 overs later the 100 partnership had been made where Mejzner retired on a run a ball 60.  Tight bowling followed by the North with an excellent spell of leg spin from the North captain Billy Gubb, who showed great control of line and length and generated some spin from the pitch.  Having batted for 30 overs O’Livey retired on a patient 31.  The North picked up 4 wickets with the East looking to push the score on.  At the end of their 40 overs the East finished on 181 for 4.

North started their innings with Gubb and Bittle opening the innings.  Having looked solid Gubb was bowled between bat and pad by an in swinging delivery from Jeacock.  After the 1st wicket the North never looked in trouble against the East’s pace bowlers, who were struggling with their line with a number of wide deliveries, Bittle and Whittaker taking the North through to the 18th over without further loss.  The 19th over saw the introduction of spin at both ends and Mezjner was quickly in to the wickets but not before Bittle and Whittaker brought up their 50 partnership.  After switching ends both Klinkenberg with his leg spin and Mejzner with his off spin were taking wickets at regular intervals and both having hatrick opportunities.  Mejzner who finished the day following up his 60 retired with bowling figures of 5 for 7 was well supported by Klinkenberg 3 for 25 who was bowling in his first district game.
