Lewdown win derby clash

HATHERLEIGH went down by 116 runs to Lewdown in the A Division derby clash.

Lewdown piled up 277 for five in their 50 overs – skipper Harry Geering getting out on 96.

Geering put on 52 with Johan Wessels (34) and 145 with Billy Searle.

Searle went on to make 84 off 83 balls with eight fours and four sixes.

There was a cameo innings of 18 off 13 balls towards the end from debutant Arnie Searle, who hit two sixes and a four on his Lewdown debut.

Mark Lake (0-36), Jack Cherrington (0-19) and Charlie Nielson (1-30) kept it tight when they bowled.

Wicket takers Steve Letheren (2-57) and Rob Fishleigh (2-75) were more expensive.

Hatherleigh were three for four after 14 balls – Ben Williams (3-14) and Billy Searle getting among them – and 32 for four when Carl Schwarz went was hardly an improvement!

Jack Cherrington (66) and Rhys Davies (38) put on 103 and 135 for four looked more respectable.

Leon Horn (4-39) broke stand and with Mark Jordan (2-32) supporting Hatherleigh staggered to 161 all out.
