Barton first through to Booker Wholesale Devon Cup last four

BARTON beat Bovey Tracey by seven wickets in a low-scoring Booker Wholesale Devon Cup tie at Cricketfield Road.

Bovey were skittled out for 81 in 23.2 overs – Adam Parker taking six for 18 and Stuart Bowker two for nine.

Peter Bradley’s 30 at the top of the order was as good as it got for Bovey.

Barton lost opener Steve Lewis in the first over and Ian Jarman soon after.

Mark Gilmour clubbed 68 off 36 balls – eight fours, five sixes – to put Barton in the next round, where they will be away to either Chudleigh or Cornwood.

Chudleigh and Cornwood are due to play their quarter-final tie tomorrow (July 19) at Oak Park today.

Sidmouth were allowed to re-arrange their quarter final with Bradninch for next Sunday as they have players on county duty with Devon.

Plymouth’s match against Budleigh Salterton is also being played a week today to avoid clashing with the Devon T20 finals today, which Plymouth are playing in.

Plymouth or Budleigh will entertain Sidmouth or Bradninch in the last four, provisionally fixed for Sunday, August 9.
