Torquay third side through to Servicemaster Clean T20 finals

TORQUAY are through to finals day in the Servicemaster Clean Devon T20 Cup following a 12-run win over Bovey Tracey.

Sach Galhenage top scored for Torquay with 66 off 47 balls in an impressive total of 155 for six.

Along the way there were stands of 33 with Jack Richardson, 38 with Joe Thompson (22) and 64 in seven overs with Kazi Szymanski.

Charlie Sheen (2-18) was the only Bovey bowler to go for less than five an over.

Bovey were 143 for seven when time ran out on them – Dan Green opening up with 25.

Szymanksi’s four overs for 16 runs went a long way towards heeling the lid on Bovey.

Galhenage completed a man-of-the-match display with figures of three for 31.

Torquay join Exmouth and North Devon in the final at Plympton on July 19.

Plymouth beat Cornwood by seven wickets in a quick fire demolition job at Plymstock to win the Ivor Dewdney-sponsored Plymouth qualifying round.

Standing between Plymouth and finals day are Lewdown, who won the West Devon qualifier two weeks ago.

Matt Skeemer blazed 62 off 38 balls with three sixes and seven fours in Cornwood’s 143 for nine.

Man of the match Mike Simmers took four for eight in three overs for Plymouth, who raced to victory in just 12 overs.

Simmers bullied the bowling to make 81 not out off 37 balls – 12 fours, four sixes – and his opening stand of 82 with James Toms (33) meant there was only ever going to be one winner.
