Bovey skipper not prepared to run up flag on title hopes

BOVEY Tracey skipper Peter Bradley hasn’t given up on winning the title despite the 41-point gap between his side and leaders Torquay.

Last Saturday’s reversal by Exeter appeared to scupper Bovey’s chances, but Bradley isn’t so sure.

With 100 points to play for and some significant fixtures, Bradley says it’s not over yet.

“It's all about winning the five remaining games and seeing where we are,” said Bradley, whose team tackle Heathcoat this Saturday.

“Sidmouth or Torquay will lose points this weekend.

“Torquay also have to play Exmouth and us - so pressure is on them.

“Sidmouth also have North Devon in a week or so.”

Bradley had no arguments with the result against Exeter, saying: “We were totally outplayed.

“They had three very good pace bowlers in Sale, Green and Bess.

“We didn't play badly. In fact I feel we bowled and fielded pretty well.”

Bradley said the batting didn’t fire and there was a lesson to take from that.”

“Batting wise, we can't rely on Lake, Willoughby and Golding to score all the runs all the time.”

He added: “Heathcoat sound like the want to break into the top four, so hoping for a good, competitive game.”

Former Devon captain Chris Bradley is still away on holiday, but Bovey expect to see him again before the end of the season.
