Exeter waiting on Green and Lammonby for relegation scrap

EXETER can do their Premier Division survival hopes the power of good by beating Plymouth at Mount Wise in a real 40-pointer.

Both city sides are trying to stay out of the bottom two and right now are hovering the safe side of the line, but not by much.

Plympton are doomed but any one of Paignton (127pts), Plymouth (133) and Exeter (139) could be going with them.

Even Heathcoat (152) aren’t totally safe as they have Paignton, Exeter and Plymouth to play in August.

Exeter have helped themselves to three wins in the last four starts – 64 points out of 80 on offer – including a victory at Bovey last time out.

Miles Leyngon, the Exeter skipper, said the mood in the camp was upbeat ahead of the match.

“We have just come off a very convincing win against an in-form Bovey side so we feel confident,” said Lenygon.

Lenygon won’t finalise his side until the last minute as he would like to play youngsters Ben Green and Tom Lammonby if he can.

Green has been away with the England U19 squad and Lammonby has spent the week at the Bunbury Festival under the gaze of the England U15 selectors.

“There could be a couple of changes, but I will have to wait and see,” said Lenygon.

“Ben Green and Tom Lammonby could be available but this is a busy time for both so I will let them decide later in the week.”

Plymouth will again be under the leadership on the pitch of Dave Burke as skipper Sam Stein is still sidelined.

“Unfortunately I am not back this week,” said Stein.

“I've pulled my hamstring for the fifth time this season.

“I haven't been fit all year, it's been very frustrating.”

Hal Kerton and Harry Ramsden are back this weekend from holiday to bolster the batting and bowling.

Plymouth tied with Plympton last time out, which left them one place behind Exeter and one spot clear of the drop zone.

“Last week was a very tense game. It wasn't easy to watch,” said Stein.

“We are looking forward to playing Exeter and hoping to leap frog them in the table.”
