Tavvy skip eyes chance to climb table

TAVISTOCK can push themselves further away from the bottom of the table by beating Bideford.

Skipper Shaun Daymond, Sean Cleave, Dave Ball, Chris Hutchins and Dom Scaglioni are all back this week having missed the win at Hatherleigh.

Beating Hatherleigh put Tavistock 20 points clear of Lewdown who are in the second relegation spot.

“Last week has given us gap at the right time and we hope to make that gap bigger,” said Daymond.

“We're starting to score decent runs most weeks now which is putting us in the game.

“Bideford have had a few good results over the past few weeks and we know they can be dangerous.

“But it's a must win game for us and we must play as we have the last few weeks.’

Bideford skipper James Ford is resigned to relegation now but says his team still have a role to play.

“Tavistock winning at Hatherleigh last week has made it difficult to save ourselves from the drop,’ said Ford,

“But we will play hard in the remaining games as our results will determine who else will go down.”

Missing this week are Mat Shepherd,  Mike Lemmings and Jamie Lathwell.

Back in are Dan Barratt and Devon U12 player Jack Ford, who gets a little taste of first-team cricket.
