Ottery 17 points clear at top of C East

OTTERY St Mary look in good shape for the tussle with Alphington this Saturday after routing Kentisbeare by seven wickets.

Kents raced along to 248 for seven, led by Rory Thomas with 93.

Thomas and James Sprague (54) hoisted 92 for the second wicket, then Steve Reed (66) put on 88 for the fourth wicket with Thomas.

Ollie Reec (2-29) and Kev Kelly (2-37) were the pick of the bowlers for Ottery.

Billy Rudolph helped himself to an unbeaten century as Ottery cruised home with seven overs to spare.

Dan Flower (36) and Rudolph got away to a 79-run start, Rudolph and Jack Pritchard (41) put on 84 and Billy Read (30no) was there at the end with Rudolph (108no) in an unbroken stand of 72.

While Kentisbeare are still scrapping to avoid relegation – they are 12 points from safety with three games to go – Ottery top the table by 17 points from Uplyme.

Alphington in third are 22 points behind Uplyme and can probably forget about reaching the play-offs if they lose this Saturday.
