Crunch time for Thorverton against Chudleigh

PROMOTION hopes could be made or broken when B Division leaders Chudleigh entertain Thorverton tomorrow.

Chudleigh’s 13-run win over lowly Abbotskerswell last Saturday put them 13 points ahead of second-placed Plymstock with two games to go.

The more important statistic is Chudleigh’s 26-point lead over third-placed Thorverton.

Thorverton visit Chudleigh this Saturday playing to stay in the promotion race. An eight-game winning run has taken Thorverton from rock bottom to third.

If Chudleigh win they are up. The title will be decided on the last day when Chudleigh go to Plymstock, unless Axminster beat Plymstock this Saturday.

“We have two really tough games and need to win one of them,” said skipper Ed Foreman.

“We have to be at our best against Thorverton and try to get the job done at home.

“I know we can play better than we did against Abbotskerswell – and will have to if we want to end Thorverton’s winning run.”

Two wins may not be enough for Thorverton – they face old enemies Shobrooke Park on the final day - but anything less will definitely undo them.

“Chudleigh is a big game for us and one we have to win,” said skipper Graham White. “If we keep winning we should go up.”

Chudleigh seamer Faisel Khaliq missed the win over Abbots as he was in Pakistani having trials for a First Class side. He returns on Saturday.

Thorverton lose Greed and Jamie Khan up top, but have James Hope and Andy Pitt back in the middle.
