Tavistock sink into relegation trouble

TAVISTOCK are back in relegation trouble in the A Division after suffering a seven-wicket stuffing by fellow strugglers Lewdown.

Dave Ball made 50 against his former club and Dave Manning was out for 49 in a Tavvy total of 171 for eight.

Johann Wessels took four for 25 for Lewdown – and that was just the start of the trouble he was going to cause Tavvy.

Wessels then struck an unbeaten century as Lewdown knocked off the runs.

Phil Yeo (27no) was with him at the end having replaced Mark Jordan (21).

Lewdown (163pts) moved out of the bottom two at the expense of Tavvy (156) who have one game left to save themselves from a prompt return to the B Division.

It’s Barton at home on Saturday and only one outcome will do.

“We have to get a result and hope Lewdown slip up to survive,” said skipper Shaun Daymond.

“Not where we wanted to be, but we will fight for it.”
