Ivybridge end season on a high

IVYBRIDGE finished the season on a high note with an 80-run win over Abbotskerswell.

Jeewan de Silva hit a top score of 62 as the Bridge made 202 for seven.

Bottom side Abbots were bowled out for 122 in reply with Harry Solomon leading the way for Ivybridge with three for 24.

Ivybridge finished fifth in the table, 23 points behind Ipplepen in the second promotion place.

Solomon (12) and de Silva shared in the best Ivybridge stand, one of 58 for the third wicket.

Kelvin Trent (20) and de  Silva added another 44 for the fourth.

Chris Greenhouse (27no) and skipper Gareth Andrews (25no) put on 51 unbroken in the last eight overs.

Hugo Whitlock had three for 58 for relegated Abbots. Matt Beasant bowled nine over for just 12 runs.

Abbots were pinned down from the start by Josh Coker (2-34) and Solomon, then lost wickets to Pete Abraham (2-31) and de Silva (2-8).

Beasant went in a 88 for six and made a top score of 20 before de Silva trapped him lbw.

Next best for Abbots was Charlie Hill with 19.
