Baglow hat-trick gives Braunton the edge

BRAUNTON cruised up to third in the table on the back of a five-wicket win over visiting Axminster.

Ben Cross (35) and Dave Field (31) were the only batsmen in double figues as Axminster struggled to 100 all out.

Axminster dipped from 21 for one to 61 for seven then lost their last three wickets on 100 as Braunton skipper Jon Baglow performed the hat-trick.

Left-armer Baglow bowled Nick Taylor then claimed Dave Hayball and Alex Wraight lbw for his three in row – his first hat-trick in league cricket.

Alfie Huxtable (19) and Mark Cresswell (22) took Braunton to 78 for four and in sight of victory.

Mark Mitchell (14no) completed the chase with more than 30 overs to go.

Field’s two for 15 was the only bowling highlight for Axminster, who are stuck fast at the foot of the table.
