Abbots breeze past South Devon in Aaron Printers Cup

ABBOTSKERSWELL breezed into the second round of the Aaron Printers Cup by administering a 52-run defeat on neighbours South Devon.

South Devon – seriously depleted due to availability problems – did well to slow Abbots down to 141 for eight in their 20 overs.

With openers Charlie Mitchell (28) and Charlie Hill (30) putting on 66 in the first seven overs, South Devon were staring down the barrel of a 200-plus total.

A change of bowling slowed things down – helped by Emily Martin removing Hill with the second ball she bowled.

Harrison Moss (1-18) and James Allen (3-20) bowled tidy four over spells, keeping James McMurray (23) and Aron Owen (18) relatively quiet.

Emily Martin’s one for 18 from three overs was respectable, while dad Jon took three for 19 from a similar spell.

South Devon lacked the batting firepower to worry Abbots, who had them becalmed at 35 for two at the halfway stage.

Dave Palmer and Elliott Adams bottled South Devon up at the top of the order with Connor Adams (2-26) and veteran Paul Mitchell (2-4) picking up wickets as they went along.

James Allen top scored for South Devon with 32 and Cameron Fogden made 21 in a 20-over total of 89 for six.
