Dawson missing from Exmouth line-up

EXMOUTH entertain Paignton without former Devon captain Bob Dawson, which is more significant than it seems.

Dawson and Trevor Anning got Exmouth off the hook against Heathcoat last Saturday after they slumped to 48 batting first.

A stand of 132 between Dawson and Anning got Exmouth up to 203 for eight, which proved to be a winning total by 57 runs

Exmouth have struggled for early runs all season and will miss Dawson’s potential contribution.

“We have to stand up and be counted,” said Exmouth skipper Richard Baggs.

“It is a must that we bat better in the first 15 overs than we have been.”

Paignton should fear no one after beating defending champions Sidmouth last time out.

Skipper Connor Bryan respects Exmouth, but isn’t afraid of them.

“After a good win against Sidmouth, the lads will be full of confidence,” said Bryan.

“We know Exmouth are a very capable team on their day.

“However, as we have shown over the last few weeks, we are capable of beating the best.

“We are looking forward to the challenge.”

Pete Taylor, Connor Ashworth and Noah Wright all come into the team.
