Hatherleigh looking for another leadership scalp

HATHERLEIGH toppled Cornwood from the top of the table last time out – which let Brixham in at the top.

Seven days later Hatherleigh visit the new leaders, looking to pull the same result again.

“We are looking for another win, but I feel we need to step up again to win against the team people are tipping to win the league.

“Will be interesting to test ourselves against a team unbeaten and see how we fare.”

Hatherleigh are unchanged for the game.

BRADNINCH have gained one and lost another ahead of their meeting with Lewdown.

New to the ranks at Kensham Park is Exmouth batsman Andrew Buzza, who debuted in the T20 side earlier this week.

Buzza is the second new signing as former captain Tim Piper returned from Torquay last week and played in the defeat by Barton.

Gone from the side is former Feniton keeper-batter Josh Cann, who arrived close season looking to play at a better level.

Cann has left for D Division East side Honiton, where he will be playing with dad Brian.

“He has gone to get a bat,” said Bradninch skipper Dan Hardy. “It is a shame and we will miss him.”

Veteran seamer Paul Nott is still injured and will miss the game with Lewdown.

Bradninch are still rattling around in the A Division bottom two following a four-wicket reversal against Barton.

Cautious Lewdown captain Harry Geering isn’t convinced Bradninch are a bottom two side.

“I don't buy into Bradninch’s league position,” said Geering.

“Looking at their players there are a top-for side and I expect they will be on an upward climb shortly... hopefully starting next week.

“We played well against Bideford. We bowled very good areas but weren't tested that much but I couldn't have asked more from my bowlers.

Hopefully the same will happen this week.

Jack Williams and Dave Ball still away. Tom Pengelly who helped out last week as he is still on the way back from breaking his leg is rested and Dale Chadwick is back in.
