Exeter U15s through to ECB Cup regional final

EXETER U15s are safety through to the regional final of the ECB Cup after an eight-wicket demolition job on Newton Tracey.

The north Devon side were soon in trouble with Ben Hayes taking a wicket in the first over, and Ben Abrahams in the fourth over, to reduce them to 11 for two.

A 50-run partnership between Luke George and Will Cowling steadied the ship before Cowling was dismissed for 15.

Late resistance came from George Gibbs (11no) as the home side reached 115 for five in their 20 overs.

George hit six fours in his 36 before being bowled by Hayes (2-9) in the last over

Abrahams (1-11), Jamie Khan (1-8 ) and Robert Dunn ( 1-29 ) had a wicket apiece.

Exeter raced to 34 in four overs before Khan (10) was unluckily run-out by a straight drive from James Bovey  deflected onto his stumps by the bowler

Bovey continued with a six and five fours in his 34 before departing lbw with the score on 62.

Tom Lammonby (left) and Hayes put on the winning partnership of 55 with Hayes ending on three not out.

Lammonby was in imperious form, hitting four sixes and three fours and reached 50 not out, hitting a six to seal the win with eight overs to spare.

Exeter now meet Yelverton in the Regional final to be held on the County Ground.
