Plympton capable of getting out of trouble says skipper Carr

PLYMPTON’S resources are stretched across the club with four players missing from the 1st XI just the tip of the iceberg.

Ryan Skinner (Glastonbury), Matt Gregory (moving house), Fraser Smith, and Dom Mulberry (school) are all missing from the team due to play visiting Torquay.

In come skipper James Carr, Olly Mulberry, Alex Carr and Craig Donohue.

“We have 18-20 players across the club unavailable this week but have still managed to get three teams out so massive effort by the club!

“Once again Lots of changes due to people being unavailable, has been our problem right from the start of the season.”

“Once again Lots of changes due to people being unavailable, has been our problem right from the start of the season.”

Plympton are a long way adrift at the foot of the table, but Carr isn’t resigned to staying there.

“I think a lot of people have written us off,” said Carr.

“I haven't as I know we can win matches as we have shown we are capable of competing over the past weeks.

”Having Exeter 140-6 we should have won, Paignton 80-6 and letting them get 210, then ourselves 115 for 3 chasing, we should have won by all accounts.

“We can get out of it but at those critical points we need to concentrate and hammer home the advantage. “

Torquay, whose tie against Bovey cost them a share of top spot, are unchanged, which means no Max Waller for the second week running.

“Max is busy with Somerset for the next few weeks so it's a good opportunity for some of us to step up to the plate and take on that extra responsibility,” said skipper Justin Yau.

“We go to Plympton in good spirits, knowing that 14 points against Bovey is not the worst result.

“We need to apply ourselves better with the bat- myself included as our middle order collapsed too easily on Saturday.

“Plympton have nothing to lose and there are some good players in there so we won’t take them for granted.”
