Abbots looking forward to Somerset date

IT’S case of second time lucky as Somerset County Cricket Club hope to play Abbotskerswell in a rearranged Twenty20 at Two Mile Oak on September 18

With the original fixture in June being washed out, Somerset have managed to squeeze the match into their busy schedule as part of Arul Suppiah’s benefit year.

While the Malaysian born all-rounder (pictured) has been forced to retire from professional cricket earlier this season through injury, the likes of Marcus Trescothick, Craig Kieswetter and Jos Buttler are among the potential stars likely to visit.

The match promises to be an exciting final fixture of the summer for the Abbots squad ,who are relishing the chance to test their skills against the county stars before they head indoors to compete in the South Devon Indoor League this winter.

All three Devon League teams successfully secured their respective league status’s, with the 1stXI keeping their A Division status despite often fielding a side with an average age below 20!

The event is raising funds for the Children’s Hospice South West and alongside the on-field action there will also be refreshments and other fun activities around the ground, promising a memorable day for all.

The big hitting gets under way at 3.30pm with free admission and local car parking provided.
