Big performance needed against N Devon says Exeter skipper

EXETER, one place and 12 points off the bottom two, face a tricky trip to North Devon this Saturday.

The city side were without England U19 all-rounder Ben Green, Somerset staffer Alex Barrow and Somerset 2nd XI seamer Ollie Sale when the lost to Plymouth last Saturday.

Barrow is back for the North Devon game, Sale will probably play but Green’s commitments with England will rule him out.

“We know they are a strong side from the last time we played them,” said skipper Miles Lenygon.

“Plymouth played well last week, but we were nowhere near at our best. We need a big performance.”

BOVEY Tracey go to Plymouth looking to carry on winning after beating Heathcoat by three wickets.

With 52 points to make up on leaders Torquay and 80 to play for, they won’t win the title this year.

However, skipper Peter Bradley won’t want to finish outside the top four, where Bovey have been every year since 2008. Right now they are fifth.

Plymouth captain Sam Stein hopes his side can show some more of the form that helped beat Exeter in the basement dog-fight last time out.

“We played very well last weekend with everyone scoring runs at a good rate,” said Stein.

“Mike batted superbly and it was a shame he didn't get his 100.

“We are in good form and are looking forward to the challenge of Bovey this weekend.

“It was good to see all departments firing, which is pleasing to see as captain.

“I am hoping the side continue playing in this way for the remaining games of the season.”
