TONY PRYCE DEVON SENIOR CUP
DAMON Calland hit an unbeaten 67 as Barton breezed into the Tony Pryce Devon Senior Cup quarter-finals with a seven-wicket demolition job on Brixham.
Barton were up for revenge after their drubbing by Brixham a few days earlier in the Pro-Direct Twenty20 Cup – and must have fancied their chances when the visitors only turned up with 10 men.
Overnight cry-offs and a shortage of registered players meant Brixham played a man short throughout.
The ten men made 162 for six in their overs with just two principal scorers: Tim Robinson (45) and Farooq Iqball (50no).
The wickets were shared around between Adam Parker (2-16) and Aqeel Ahmed (2-24).
Opener Calland’s rich seam of form in all forms of cricket continued as he batted from start to finish on the chase, making Brixham pay for dropping him twice in the 40s.
Along the way there were partnerships with Tom Whittle (23) and Parker (28) before Sean Adderley came in at the end to help knock off the last few runs.

BOVEY Tracey eased into the quarter-finals with a comfortable 46-run win over Torquay.
Farhaan Behardien top scored on 47 for Bovey Tracey in their total of 186 all out in the last of their 40 overs.
After Behardien fell the score kept ticking over thanks to Andy Kingdon (39) and Richard Longstreet (33), who put on 49 for the fifth wicket.
Spinner Andy Yau was the pick of Bovey’s bowlers with four for 32.
Torquay struggled once Matt Thompson (30) and Tim Western (16) got out and were in danger of being bowled out for under a hundred.
Peter Bradley (2-42), Ryan Bougard (2-15) and skipper Chris Bradley, who took himself off after six overs with figures of two four seven, reduced Torquay to 99 for eight.
Skipper Bradley spotted a chance to give some of his younger players a bowl and threw the ball to Andrew Longstreet, who repaid his captain’s faith by taking two for 14.

MARSHALL Hood thrashed a quickfire half-century as Exeter booked their place in the last eight with a four-wicket win over Plympton.
Exeter appeared to have done the hard bit after bowling Plympton out for 132 – Tshepo Legodi showing the way with three for 28 in eight overs at the start.
Matt Williamson had two wickets, as did skipper Jon Tipper.
Hood had Exeter well on the way to victory when he got out lbw trying to switch-hit Plympton captain Keith Donohue.
A three-wicket burst from the lively Lewis Gregory, who worked up some real pace, had Exeter sweating for a moment.
Any fears about winning the game were dispelled by Legodi and Matt Medway, who saw off Gregory without further dramas.
“A great bowling effort set us up nicely as we had them 60 for seven and they weren’t coming back from there,” said Tipper.
“Marshall looked like winning it on his own for us, but got out lbw trying the switch hit when he might have been better leaving the shot at home.
“Lewis Gregory bowled quick for four overs and took three wickets, but Tshepo and Matt Medway did what was necessary.”

TAVISTOCK sent Alphington tumbling out of the competition by the humbling margin of 10 wickets.
Shaun Cleave (4-19) and Beuran Hendricks (4-22) sent Alphington spinning to 124 all out. They were 65 for four when the stand of 47 between Andy Codling (29) and Ian McDonald 16) ended, but had little to come after that.
Tavistock were midway through the 22nd over when opening pair Josh Stephens (32) and Ian Gray (73) completed a routine chase.

PLYMOUTH carried too much firepower for depleted Budleigh Salterton as they romped to a 93-run win in the Tony Pryce Devon Senior Cup.
Budleigh were hit by the non-availability of county quartet Bob Dawson, Ian Bishop, Sandy Allen and Aditya Rai, who were all playing for Devon against Staffordshire in the Minor Counties Cup.
James Toms clubbed a ton for Plymouth as they hoisted 209 before being bowled out in the last of their 45 overs
Toms and John Nicholls (27) put on 72 for the sixth wicket.
Lloyd White (3-35) and Max Newing (2-22) were the pick of the Budleigh bowlers. James Leat (1-59 off eight) didn’t fare quite as well.
Budleigh must have known what was coming after slumping to 69 for six under pressure from Steve Marks (3-15) and Nicholls (3-13).
Rob Newing (35) and son Max (38) delayed the inevitable with a stand of 33 for the seventh wicket. Once they went it was downhill all the way to 116 all out.
