Craze and Mills take Exeter to cleaners

LATEST TABLES

EXETER University mauled Exeter by 41 runs to secure a third straight win at the top of Division One of the Exeter Indoor League.

Rob Craze (20) was again the leading run scorer for the students who made 100 for six. George Greenway (2-22) was the top Exeter bowler.

Miles Lenygon (left) top scored for Exeter with 20, but there was precious little support as the reply ended swiftly on 59 all out! Ollie Mills sent down two overs, claiming three wickets for just eight runs!

The other top-flight game saw Shobrooke beat Sandford by 43 runs.

Dan Pyle hit an unbeaten 34 and Andrew Codling weighed in with 36 as Shobrooke Park scored an imposing 133 for five.

Rory Miller took 2-33 for Sandford who were then restricted to 90-3 with Jonathan Pyle the most successful of the winners’ bowlers, taking one wicket for 18 runs from three overs.

University, who have played three matches, sitting top on 58 points, 40 points ahead of second placed Shobrooke Park (who have only played once to date)

In Division Two it is last year’s divisional winners Tiverton who again top the table with two wins from two games.

Their latest success was a 71-run success over Countess Wear.

Tivvy are clearly determined to enjoy this season as they racked up a massive 150 for three led by skipper Brendon Parr with an unbeaten 38.

Jason Parr, the captain’s brother, was unbeaten on 33. Paul Rendle chipped in with 27 not out and Alex Dixon hit 23.

Countess Wear were bowled out for 79 with Rob Jones top scoring with 21.

There were four run-outs in the Wear innings - one from a direct throw!

The other game saw Newton St Cyres play their first match of the campaign and they were comfortable winners by four wickets against Bradninch.

Bradninch batted first and were bowled out for just 64 with only 17-year-old Tom Bunker (17) able to make any sort of progress. Next best was the nine from Will Grieg!

Joe Moretta did the bulk of the damage, returning figures of two for 12 from three overs.

There were also three run-outs in the Bradninch innings. St Cyres were led to a four wicket win by Leighton Dayman (27 not out). Dave Bunker was the only Bradninch bowler to take a wicket – his courtesy of a catch behind the stumps by son Tom
