A Division - Budleigh setting pace

BUDLEIGH Salterton remain top of the pile in the A Division following a 77-run win at Plympton.

The Otters' total of 194 for eight was anchored by Rob Craze's patient 39 off 103 balls and moved along by Ben Phillips (44) and Joel Murphy (30no).

Plympton were all out for 17 with 21 overs to go Luke Peterson and Phillips doing the damage with three wickets each.

Christian Bunney's 33 was as good as it got for Plympton, who went from 61 for two to 72 for six and had no way back.

Left-arm spinner Stuart Bowker took five for 27 to speed Barton on their way to a seven-wicket win over Chudleigh.

Chudleigh slumped from 90 for three to 124 all out with Bowker doing most of the damage. Once Matt Heather (31) was fifth out to Tom Drake, it was downhill all the way.

Shaun Needham (40) and Chris Penner (36) gave Barton a 60-run start,

Needham and Steve Lewis went in quick succession, but Penner and Devonvan Ekstraal (37no) got the target down to four in a winning stand of 49 for the third wicket.

Chudleigh are down in the basement with Hatherleigh, who were narrow 15-run losers at Brixham.

Skipper Andy Pugh hit 43 and there were runs for Andy Lewin (3), Mark Orchard (31) and Jordan Gregory (30no) in Brixham's 50-over total of 201 for six.

Hatherleigh didn't look in good shape a 48 for five in reply after early problems against Lee Upham (4-280.

Simon Gillespie (56) and Mark Lake (37) put on 75 to make it interesting and Brixham were relieved when Orchard (2-31) accounted for the former to end the chase three overs out.

Zubayr Hamza lashed a quickfire century as Paignton crushed Abbotskerswell by eight wickets.

Abbots were held to 187 for eight - Jake Dearaugo top scoring on 42 - with George Yates (4-32) taking the bowling honours.

Paignton had the runs knocked off inside 26 overs thanks to a stand of 155 between Hamza and Chris Kelmere (48).

Hamza's 101 not out came off 78 balls and included 18 fours and two sixes,

Bradninch won for the first time this season when they overturned visiting Lewdown by 47 runs.

Gian Botha top scored for Bradninch with 58 in a total of 206 all out. Jack Horton (20) and Ross Acton (28) chipped in.

Lewdown were all out for 159 in reply - Marco Marias falling for a top score of 62 of the 85 for five on the board at the time.

Will Squire (3-40) got Marais, but Acton (4-35) did most of the damage. Paul Nott (3-35) got into the bottom half of the order.
