Financial Boost for New Coaches in Devon
Devon Cricket are proud to announce that applicants for this year's Level 2 Coach Education courses can benefit from a bursary of £100 to help towards the cost of the course. The David Shepherd Cricket Trust has very kindly agreed this winter to support candidates who attend a Devon Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Children's Cricket or Certificate in Coaching Young People & Adults' Cricket Course on the understanding that the candidate is a current member of the Trust and in the 2015 season will be working in a Devon Club. Candidates must provide details of their Trust membership number and details of the Club that they are affiliated to / member of and will be working with in the 2015 season. If Candidates are not already members of the Trust then they should apply before their course starts.

Matt Theedom, Devon's Cricket Development Manager, said "We are incredibly grateful to the Trust for continuing to value the role coaches play in the County. Supporting them in such a practical way shows their ongoing commitment to what we are trying to achieve in Devon. This is a fantastic partnership which will undoubtedly benefit hundreds of cricketers young and old."

The David Shepherd Cricket Trust has been formed by the merger of two existing charities that were already working to support young cricketers in Devon;
The David Shepherd Cricket Foundation and the Devon Youth Cricket Foundation. The merger allows us to have much greater impact, and to benefit even more young people. As part of their remit to support young cricketers in Devon, the Trust has set aside funds to encourage coaches to undertake one of the branches of the Level 2 qualification, either coaching children or coaching young people and adults.

Previous coaches who have undertaken this training have gone on to coach in schools, coach County age groups, become coach education tutors and mentor other coaches. The standard of cricket in Devon relies on there being highly trained and professional coaches and the coach education system is the way to achieve this.
