Devon Under 11 v Gwent Under 11 Match Report

 June 2nd - Blundell's School

Another fantastic day of weather saw Devon Under 11’s secure their second win of the season! Devon lost the toss and were put into bat by their Welsh opponents and after losing Noah Wright early it seemed to be a good decision by Gwent. However Billy Rudolph then entered the crease along with opener Harvey Sargent, which saw the pair pile on the runs and get Devon up to 217 – 2 off 40 over’s. Rudolph and Sargent put on 188 runs for the second wicket. Rudolph scored a classy run a ball 92, including 11 fours, while Sargent ended up just 10 short of what would have been a fantastic maiden 100, with 90no.

In reply Gwent didn’t get off to the best of starts as Devon and Ottery St. Mary opening bowler Olli Reed rolled through the top three and ended up with impressive figures of 3 for 2 off 5 over’s. Leaving Gwent 3 for 5 at one stage.  Devon were not going to let the game drag out as Joe Hagan-Burt then came on to clean bowl 3 of the Gwent middle order for just 11 runs. Matthew Churchill (2-11) wrapped up the innings with Gwent all out for 42 and Devon securing a 175 run win. Next for the under 11’s is Somerset!
