Primary Boys - Indoor Comp
10 primary schools and over 90 boys took part in the ‘Dartmoor School Sports Partnership Indoor Boys Cricket Competition’ at Torbay Leisure Centre.

This is the first ever primary school indoor competition run in Devon, and possibly the country!  As this was the first time these boys had played indoor cricket it was a learning curve for them to figure out the differences between the indoor rules and tactics compared to the outdoor game. Some excellent games proceeded with the top four teams after the group stage playing in a semi-finals and the other teams playing off for places.

Rydon narrowly made it through to the final beating Bovey Tracey by 6 runs. In the other semi-final another close game saw Exminster beat Landscove by just 9 runs. Exminster performed superbly to beat a very good Rydon team by 33 runs in the final to win the competition.

Community Coach for South Devon Scott Chappell commented “it was a fantastic afternoon for all involved, with some excellent cricket and sportsmanship on show. It’s great for the boys to be able to play cricket all year round and have the opportunity to play in an indoor competition, that puts different skills to the test compared to outdoor games”.

Wednesday 13th November will see a girls competition at the same venue.
