Devon's opening bowlers, Onley-Gregson and Sutton bowled with skill and discipline reducing the Western Province side to 18-2 after 10 overs. Van Oordt and Scheepers came together at the crease and successful eased past a partnership of 50. Max Hancock was introduced into the attack and removed Van Oordt for 50. James Onley-Gregson reintroduce himself into the attack straight after lunch and removed the danger man Scheepers for 63, Onley-Gregson and Hancock bowled successfully in tandem with Hancock returning figure of 16-4-35-4. Bowlers were rotated to partner Hancock with both Woodcock and Walliker picking up a wicket a piece aided by some superb fielding. The first innings of Western Province closed on 179 all out from 59.5 overs.

Devon put on 21 for the first wicket until Degg was removed for 9 off the bowling of left arm seamer Ajam. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals during the innings, 14 year olds Kopparambil and Moore  showing some resistance with both batters scoring 15 before being dismissed. Devon's tale once again wagged, Sutton and Adams 9th wicket partnership adding 34 to the score where Adams topped scored with 21. Devon's innings finished on 107 all out off 39.5 overs with Ajam returning figures of 11-2-17-4.

Devon went into the 3rd innings 72 runs behind knowing they had to take early wickets whilst also limiting Western Province from scoring at a fast rate. Once again Devon's new ball bowlers performed and Onley-Gregson reduced the home side to 17-2 before the spinners were introduced. Smit was turning out to be the thorn in Devon's side in the second innings until he was bowled by Woodcock for 32. The spin partnership of Hancock and Woodcock worked well and Hancock again prevailed finishing with 4 second innings wickets and returning match figures of 31-9-37-8. Devon bowled Western Province out for 94 leaving a total of 167 for victory.

After arriving late to the tour party Walliker opened the batting with Carpenter but unfortunately Walliker was the first to fall for 2 and then Carpenter for 0, both to the bowling of Ajam. Things went from bad to worse when the Western Province opening attack reduced Devon to 11-4 off the first 9 overs of the innings. Degg and Kopparambil found themselves in a perilous position, however both players dug in and took the attack to the Western Province bowlers in a partnership of 55. Both batsmen fell to the left arm spin bowling of Smits, 26 and 41 respectively, who toiled away at one end. This time the tail could not wag and Devon were bowled out for 125 meaning a loss of 41 runs.
