Besley hoping to return against old team-mate

CLYST Hydon skipper Oz Besley hopes to return after injury for the home game against Shaldon this Saturday after a chipped finger bone kept him out of the five-wicket defeat by Filleigh.

Hydon were also minus former skipper and opener Ian Sutton, who should be back in action this Saturday.

A decent batting effort produced a total of 231 for five – Graham Trude and Clinton Lewis jointly top scoring on 48. Dhanuja Haturusingha made 33 and Heflin Wood 31.

Trude and Wood put on 65 for the second wicket and there was a stand of 77 between Lewis and Kevin Sercombe for the fifth.

Filleigh romped home on the back of stand of 128 between the two Marks – Prideaux (90) and Mbfona (69). Skipper Simon Prideaux made 48 not out.

Nandana had a quiet day with the ball – one for 57 off nine overs – with Sercombe (2-37) taking such bowling honours as there were.

Besley is looking forward to an old boys’ reunion this Saturday as Shaldon skipper Mark Couch was a playing colleague when the pair were team-mates at Clyst St George.
