Tavvy demolish Barntstaple & Pilton

TAVISTOCK are now 16 points clear of Thorverton at the top of the B Division table following an eight-wicket demolition job on Barnstaple & Pilton.

Barm were all out for 9 with more extras (25) than anything else in the scorebook. Only Andy Barton (18) and skipper Steve Moore made it into double figures.

There were three wickets for Tavvy skipper Shaun Daymond and two each for Lee Baker, Jamie Stephens and Shaun Cleave.

The runs were knocked off inside 22 overs with Rhys Davies leading the way.

With regular keeper Dave Manning sidelined for two weeks due to injury, Tavvy brought Davies home from London, where he is playing for MCC Young Cricketers.

Davies made 37 and Daymond 33 not out in a partnership of 72 which left us nine runs needed to win it.

Jack Popham and Moore had a wicket each.

Said Daymond: “It was a good toss to win, but we did more than that to win the match.

“We bowled the right lines and backed the bowlers up in the field.

“We’ve got Thorverton in two weeks time and we need to keep playing this way up to then.”
