UNDER 17s
BACK-to-back wins for Ashburton take them from bottom of the table to the heady heights of second in the Under-17 (Cook) division, 14 points behind leaders Stoke.
Both victories came about by batting second, first by beating Kingsbridge by six wickets, and then by beating Harberton by nine wickets.
Richard Harvey took four wickets and W Grose two as Kingsbridge were bowled out for 66 in the 16th over.
It then took the Ashes just over 11 overs to reach this modest target, albeit with the loss of four wickets, three to the bowling of Walters-Symons.
The target needed against Harberton was somewhat bigger (105-7) but this was achieved with two overs to spare, the highlight being an unbeaten 51 from Devon hopeful Tom Durman assisted by opener Frith, who was still there at the close of play on 27 not out.
Frith and Durman were also the pick of the bowlers for Ashburton, finishing with 3-18 and 2-6 respectively.
In the Under-17 (Strauss) Division, Ipplepen finally got their season under way with a resounding defeat of Chudleigh that gave them maximum points.
Luke Tuckett scored an unbeaten half-century as the Pens notched up an impressive score of 168 for five. Chudleigh were then bowled out for 57 in the 18th over, J Wotton (4-13) inflicting the most damage, whilst Sam Wakeham and Joe Abbott shared four wickets to help remove the middle and lower order.

UNDER-15 DIVISION
SHALDON have jumped in at the top of the Collingwood Division courtesy of wins over Torquay and Barton.
Will Farley (42) and Seamus McKenna, who made 40 against his former Torquay team-mates, were the top scores in Shaldon’s total of 141 for four.
Torquay were held to 90 for eight in reply – James Gibbs 29, Nick Baines 20 not out – and lost by 51 runs.
Farley was among the run getters again when Shaldon trounced Barton by 10 wickets.
Tom Drake – who was retired on 41 – was the main run maker for Barton in their tally off 87 for eight.
Farley (36no) and Todd Ballman (39no) did the business for Shaldon.
Harberton drop back to second in the wake of their nine-wicket drubbing by Bovey Tracey.
Christian Buckner and Sam Kaye made 22 each in Harberton’s 109 for four. Ed Woolcott (40) and Sam Wyatt-Haines (43ret) steered Bovey to victory.
LOWLY South Devon ran into U15 Bell table-toppers Stoke Gabriel with predictable results!
Fergus Barratt (43no), Seb Ansley (22) and Matt Nand-lal (20) all made runs in Stoke’s 158 for nine. James Hart had three for 37.
South Devon were hustled out for 26 by Angus Lee (4-6), Aaron Stevenson (2-0) and Andy Ball (2-4) to lose by 132 runs.

Under-13s Pietersen
SHALDON have clearly got one eye on the Under-13 Pietersen title following consecutive victories that put them 60 points clear of Kingskerswell in second place.
With five straight wins under their belts, Kerswell are going to take some catching.
Against Abbotskerswell, Shaldon batted first and posted a total of 105 all out, Max Abraham top scoring with 27.
The Abbots made steady progress towards their target before the middle order capitulated to make a victory unlikely.
Abbots were eventually bowled out for 73 in the 19th over and the win belonged to Shaldon by 32 runs.
Danny McKenna, Sam Fellows and Abraham grabbed two wickets apiece for Shaldon.
It was a mighty close affair against Bovey Tracey, however, as Shaldon won by just one run. They posted a good enough total, 120 for three, thanks to maximum contributions of 30 from Danny McKenna and Dan Woolnough.
Bovey were very nearly equal to the task. An important contribution came from Danny McKenna who snaffled three stumpings and a run-out, but the turning point at the death was Dan Woolnough gaining a crucial run out.
Woolnough also contributed two wickets and a catch to cap an excellent all-round performance. Elsewhere, Chudleigh beat Paignton B by six wickets to gain their first win of the season, the star performers for Chudleigh being Thorn (33 not out) and Holmes (17) with the bat. Holmes also returned the best bowling figures of four for 15.
In the only other game, Harberton consolidated in third place by beating Bovey by five wickets.
Chasing a target of 86 for six, Harberton made it home in the 17th over thanks mainly to middle order batsmen Morris (33no) and Hugo Whitlock (24). George Yabsley and Tom Andrew shared four wickets for Bovey but it was to no avail.

UNDER-11 BROAD
PAIGNTON took over the leadership of the Under-11 division in commanding style with 58 points out of a possible 60 thanks to successive wins over Stoke Gabriel and then Kingsbridge.
A whopping 122 runs was the margin of victory against Stoke, as the top five Paignton batsmen all retired in the 20s, Paignton reaching a formidable total of 172 without loss.
Stoke were only 50 for eight by the close, Connor Smith the pick of the Paignton bowlers with figures of 3 for 11. It was a similar story against Kingsbridge, Paignton again batting first and posting a score of 154 for 3. Harry Ward (27 retired) and Dan Wolf (26 ret) headed up the run-fest, Pilling grabbing two wickets for Kingsbridge.
The South Hams side then made a commendable effort at getting within reach of Paignton, eventually being bowled out for 97, Will Dorey top scoring with an unbeaten 27.
Breathing down Paignton’s necks are Bovey Tracey, who achieved a comfortable win over Ipplepen to claim maximum points and move into second spot, 15 points behind the leaders with a game in hand.
Bovey’s unbeaten record was never in danger as they dismissed the Pens for 28 runs, Will Lammonby (3-6) and Ben Steer (2-0) the chief wicket takers. Openers Will Christophers and Matt Churchill were untroubled in getting the required runs in 31 balls.
The mid-table clash between Shaldon and Barton ended in victory for Shaldon by three wickets.
Batting first, they posted a total of 101 for seven, Joe Wilcox retiring on 27. Barton got off to a flyer with openers James Thompson (28ret) and Jack Bodeley (27ret) providing a great platform for victory, but then came a middle order collapse that left them agonisingly short by the close on 96 for six, just five runs adrift of the target.
Dan Woolnough was the pick of the Shaldon bowlers, taking two for 12. Elsewhere, Dartington picked up their first win of the season, beating Ipplepen by three wickets, a result that was enough to take them off the bottom.
Liam Price scored an unbeaten 23 for Ipplepen as they reached 76 for five in their 20 overs but it wasn’t enough however.  Dartington edged past the required total in the eighteenth over to claim victory, Dan Orchard (28 retired) leading the way.
