Babbacombe breeze into cup semi-fianls

MATT Inch and A J Van Wyk both clubbed half-centuries as Babbacombe breezed into the semi-finals of the Aaron Printers Narracott Cup at Shaldon’s expense.

After Andy Kingdon and Mike Pugh went without scoring a run between them, and Steve Broad was dismissed for six with the score on nine, Van Wyk (50) and Marcus Tanton (15) notched 32 for the fourth wicket.

Inch replaced Tanton and helped himself to an unbeaten 60 in Babbacombe’s 20-over tally of 152 for five.

Ross Abraham had two for 32, but the meanest bowlers were Will Moore (1-14 off three) and Seamus McKenna, who had one for nine from three.

Shaldon lost opener Jay Tuffnell in the second over to Paul Bates (2-17) and found runs hard to come by all the way through.

Karl Blackburn made 22, Andrew Epsley 19 andCarl Woolnouth 20, but the big knock needed bever materialised.

Van Wyk bowled four overs for 13 runs and Kindgon four for 19 to keep the lid on Shaldon, who were 105 for six when their overs ran out.
