1.   Title
The title of the Competition shall be the Bob Bridges Under 14  Competitions

2.  
Management
The control of the Competition shall be undertaken by the DCB Youth Association (DCBYA) and all decisions relating to these rules or to matches played in the competition shall be final and binding on all concerned.

3.   Entry
Each district shall nominate a representative from their league by the April 1st 2011

4.   Eligibility
The Competition shall be open to all clubs which are members of the Devon Cricket Board

5.   Qualification
A boy/girl may represent a club in the competition if he/she is under 14/16 years of age on 1st September prior to the season of the Competition. All boys/girls must be bona fide Junior Members of the club they represent and may play for only one club in the competition in any one season. Under 14s - A player must be registered by his club with the regional league in which they participate. A player who plays for more than one Devon league club MUST NOMINATE, prior to the commencement of the season (1st April), to the competition organiser which club he/she will represent. Under 16s -Competing Clubs can only play a player that is registered to play for them in the Devon adult cricket league. If a player is registered for another club in the Devon league they ARE NOT eligible to play in this competition. Failure to comply with this rule will result in that player being illegible to subsequently compete and disqualification for the club concerned should the player take part in the competition.

6.   Cricket Balls
A 5½oz balls will be provided by the home side for each game in this competition.

7.   Helmets
Any player playing in this Competition must wear a helmet when batting and when standing up to the stumps when keeping wicket.

8.   Team Sheet
Each side must provide the umpires with a team sheet before the start of the match identifying the age of all players.

9.   Umpires
Each side will arrange for the appointment of an umpire for each game. By preference the official should be qualified and a member of DACO. The umpire should not be involved in the game

10. Scorers
Each team shall provide their own competent, nonplaying scorer in all matches. If a team fails to provide a scorer a player has to be nominated from the team to take up the duty for the entire duration of the match.

11. Match Results
Each winning club shall email the result of the match to the County Organiser within 24 hours of the game.

12. Code of Conduct
All players, team officials, club supporters and umpires shall be bound by the MCC Spirit of Cricket, the ECB Code of Conduct and the ECB Non Negotiable Under 15 Standards of Behaviour.

13. Coaching
Coaching shall not be permitted from the sidelines during a match. In such an event, the umpire shall request the coach/manager/parent/spectator to stop. If this persists, the umpire shall have the power to warn the offending team captain and manager that the matter will be reported to the Devon Cricket Board.

14. Format
Each district will play a game against the other three districts. The fixtures and venues will be determined prior to the commencement of the season by the DCB. It will be left to the discretion of the clubs concerned as to when the games are played but the programme must be completed by the 31st July each year.

15. Disputes
Any dispute arising from the application or interpretation of the Rules and Playing Conditions shall be referred to the DCB. Any decision of the DCB shall be final and binding on the parties concerned.

Playing Regulations

 The Laws of Cricket (2000 Code 4th Edition - 2010) shall apply with the following exceptions:-

1.   1.1. The pitch shall be 22 yards in length. Boundaries will be reduced to take into account the age of the players.

1.2. The ball shall weigh 5½ ounces

1.3. The stumps shall be 28 inches above the ground and 9 inches wide.

1.4. Matches shall consist of one innings per side.

1.5. Each innings shall be of 20 overs duration.

1.6. No bowler shall bowl more than four overs in a match.

1.7. The team scoring the most runs in its innings shall be the winner and receive 2 points.

      1.8. No young player under the age of 13 except the wicket-keeper, shall be allowed to field nearer than 11 yards (10 metres), measured from the middle stump, except behind the wicket on the offside until the batsman has played at the ball. No young player in the Under 15 age group or younger shall be allowed to field closer than 8 yards (7.3 metres) A fielder shall be allowed to move into the restricted area to make a catch or field the ball provided that they were outside the area when the stroke was made.      

2.   In the event of the scores of each team being equal the winner shall be determined as follows:-

      2.1. The side which has taken the greater number of wickets.

      2.2. If still equal, the side with the higher score at the end of 19 overs. If still equal, the score at the end of 18 overs, etc. etc.

      2.3. If still equal five players shall be nominated to bowl overarm alternately at the wickets from the bowler's end and the team scoring the most hits shall be the winner. In the event of the number of hits being equal, players shall be nominated to bowl alternately in a sudden death until a winner has been achieved.
2.4. In the event of a rain curtailed match:

             2.4.1. If time permits the match can be reduced to 10 overs a side with the limit on bowlers reduced to two overs.

            2.4.2. Or, if weather permits, the winner shall be decided by a bowl-out, as defined below:-

2.4.3 In the event of no result being obtained by other methods and where there is no reserve date on which to play the game, a bowl-out (outdoors or indoors) will take place to achieve a result. Five players from each side will bowl two overarm deliveries each at a wicket (conforming to Law 8) from a wicket pitched at a distance of 22 yards with, if practicable, bowling, popping and return creases marked (conforming to Law 9). The side, which bowls down the wicket (as defined in Law 28.1a) the most times, shall be the winner. If the scores are equal, the same players will bowl one ball each alternately to achieve a result on a ‘sudden death’ basis.

                      The following shall also apply in respect of bowl-outs:

   (i)  The same suitably acceptable ball (not a new one) will be used by both teams. If this ball becomes wet, it may be changed subject to the umpires’ approval.

        (ii) If a bowler bowls a No ball it will count as one of the two deliveries but will not count towards the score of the team.

(iii) If the original match has started, then the five cricketers nominated to take part in the bowl-out must be chosen from the eleven cricketers and 12th man selected to play in the match. If there has been no play in the original match (the toss has not taken place), the five cricketers may be selected from any of the players in the original squad.

(iv) Each side will appoint a wicket-keeper to stand behind the wicket but out of reach of the stumps.

2.4.4. Or, if a bowl-out is not possible, the winner shall be decided by the toss of a coin. 

3.   Points: Two points will be awarded to the winning side.
