B Division 2nd XI - Top two pulling away
BRIXHAM slipped back in the B Division promotion race when they could only draw with Kingsbridge.

Tom Hopper hit 51 and Kingsbridge gifted 51 in extras as Brixham made 218 for nine – Mark Hammett (4-51) the pick of the bowlers.

Matt Peach hit 71 in reply for Kings, who were slowed up by Josh Newman, whose six for 55 left the visitors hanging on at 185 for nine.

Brixham remain in third place, but are 19 behind Ipplepen and 26 adrift of leaders Plymstock, both of whom won.

Ipplepen bowled Bideford out for 92 – Matt Hodgson taking three for 13 – then Simon Tapley made 29 on the chase.

Plymstock chased down 160 to win against Abbotskerswell and got them with seven wickets in hand.

Sean Green made 59 not out in Abbots 159 for nine – Ian Whalley picking up four for 32.

Andy Richards (42) and Josh Hocken (41) put Plymstock on the road to victory.

South Devon’s promotion push appears to have stalled after a second successive defeat, this time a 103-run pummelling at Ottery St Mary.

Ottery made 192 for nine thanks to consistent batting led by Trevor Griffin (34) and James Faulkner (33).

Lewis Townsend (3-26) and Matt Reed (3-19) then bundled South Devon out for 89 in reply.

Anthony Dibble hammered an unbeaten 109, and Simon Sobczak made 56 not out, as Sidmouth racked up 226 for one before dispatching Alphington for 147 in reply.
