Bovey spruce up pavilion
Bovey Tracey members and volunteers from NatWest Bank pause for a break during CricketForce Day

FRIDAY, APRIL 15

BOVEY Tracey’s Victorian pavilion has been given a make-over ahead of the new season.

Players of all ages and officials teamed up staff from NatWest Bank to spruce up the club.

The bank has been helping clubs all over the country for several years through it’s CricketForce

Bovey benefited from the willing and enthusiastic support of the local NatWest team comprised of Declan Shanahan, Mike Lang, Jennifer Marshall, Nick Mold and Russell Cook, who went along to give a hand painting the inside of the Pavillion.

Part of the Bovey team behind the event was Richard Wyatt-Haines, who said: "It was an amazing achievement.

“In the space of a weekend we have seen nearly 40 people helping out and we have completely changed the layout of the pavilion so it is much more welcoming to players, their families and spectators.

“It is a real celebration of everything that the club stands for; success on the field, developing cricketers for the future and a place for families to enjoy.

“Thank you to everyone who helped.”

Bovey Tracey intends to continue its drive for increased involvement in the community and for the development of youth cricket.

The club is working with South Devon College so that students gain the practical experience needed alongside their studies whilst helping to develop facilities at the club.

Bovey are hosting the Devon Youth Cricket Festival on Sunday, June 26, which is run in order to raise awareness and highlight the work that is done within Devon to promote youth cricket.

The Cricket Club is actively open to new members of all ages, both playing and social and with an already very successful ladies team want to be a club that is at the forefront of developing the ladies’ game across the country.

The pavilion will be open on April 29 from 6pm for membership registration. Anyone interested in becoming a Bovey member should contact Sally Simmons at sallybtcc@aol.co.uk
