Hall looking to use Plymouth as a model

PLYMOUTH’S unbeaten start to the season has earned the respect of Cornwood captain Jason Hall, who would like to see his side become an established Premier side in the same way.

“Plymouth have been excellent since they achieved promotion a few years ago and have kicked on another level again since establishing themselves in the Premier Division,” said Hall.

“This is certainly something we need to be looking to achieve as a club and we relish the opportunity, starting with Saturday’s fixture at Oak Park.”

Hall accepts Cornwood have had a mixed start as a team and individually and his men can take a leaf out of Plymouth’s book.

“Looking at Sidmouth, Exmouth and, to date this season, Plymouth, collectively they have been very consistent not just in terms of results but also team performances as opposed to one or two individuals each week,” said Hall.

“The more consistent you become the more ‘luck’ you tend to generate.

“I don’t believe in making excuses and I genuinely believe, for us as a team looking to improve and from a positive aspect, the results against Sidmouth and Exmouth highlight weaknesses we have and provide us with a platform of where we wish to get to for the this club to be successful in future years.

“Byron Langley again bowled well on Saturday and is hitting some nice rhythm which is going to be key for us in coming weeks supported by or other bowlers.”

Keeper-batter Mark Horwell comes back this week which will add some dog to Cornwood’s batting order, which we have been lacking in certain games.

“It was no easy decision in Duncan Boase going in to the 2nd XI this week, however he is eager to get back to the 1st XI as a batter and is very much in the frame for the remainder of the season,” said Hall.

“Duncan has been a role model for other players to look up to and still has plenty of life in his short legs yet he assures me.”
